Environmental monitoring

The ground is continuously subjected to vibrations. Measuring them is the first step in determining the effectiveness of seismic attenuation systems.

The CAOS equipment includes a broadband seismometer and a distributed fiber-optic sensing system integrated into the building during its construction.

Over time, the expertise of CAOS intends to extend beyond the laboratory and merge with seismological skills to contribute to the knowledge of the ground, its vibrations, and all those low-intensity noises that influence the measurement of gravitational waves.
